With the exception of the Charlotte Community Center project feasibility study article, it was a yes-year on the Charlotte Town Meeting Day ballot.
The $50,000 sum to be raised by property taxes for Article 6, which would fund a feasibility study for a potential community center in town, was voted down 735 to 225.
The Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue budget passed 534 to 405. Tax exemption for the CVFRS building passed 746 to 193.
The Charlotte Library budget passed 696 to 262.
The town budget passed 719 to 230.
And the due date of Nov. 15 for property tax payments passed 908 to 42.
There were no contested races this year, so everyone won. Vote tallies are in the documents below.
Town Clerk Mary Mead, who sent the results, wrote in an email, “969 people voted of a total of 3318 registered voters, 29% turnout. 527 were by absentee.”
I hope everyone who has been ranting on front porch forum came out to vote. 29% is low!
