I am so thankful for our fire and rescue crew. But, I think there has to be some communication about why our budget is nearly double Hinesburg's budget. It is a staggering number. I hope you are someone will highlight why we are spending so much more. Perhaps there is a good reason but it needs to be communicated to the community.

Hinesburg voters approved an ambulance service at Town Meeting in 2021 but they are not in receipt of their ambulance yet. Ambulance service is being provided by a subcontract agreement with another agency, first responders, and mutual aid from other ambulance services.

CVFRS is licensed at the paramedic level and staffs a 2-person paid crew at the station 24/7/365.

Good article, Chea! Thank you! We just can't wait till the bill for the Town Garage comes through. And then a Rec Center. And a salt/sand shed. And this Selectbord by going to a DRB now has three Planning and Zoning staffers (up from two), and likely will need a fourth (a DRB Administrator). And it won't be long before we go to a Town Manager structure, plus a necessary assistant to hire.

And then will come a need for either our own Police Department, or a merge with either Shelburne or Hinesburg.

This is the path this Selectboard is charting. All will be huge hits on the budget.
